Véronique Bour

On The Moon

Véronique Bour’s exhibition “On the Moon” weaves a unique dialogue through large-scale works bathed in moonlit gold, seemingly suspended within the striking space. It conjures spirits of nature, reimagined as black and white female portraits.

Exploring themes of loneliness and the nature of beauty, the exhibition invites visitors to accompany Véronique on a profoundly personal artistic journey — a quest to define her identity through the luminous power of gold, casting light on her most intimate emotions.

The gold is not simply material, it is breath, it is atmosphere, it is the light of something unnamed.

Golden Moon, 2025

150 x 150 cm

This metal plate, covered in gold, is not an object, it is light. On its surface, gold accumulates in fine layers, creating subtle textures, almost imperceptible. What matters is not gold as material, but gold as presence, as vibration, as atmosphere. It captures light, time, shadow, and transforms them into a shifting golden field.

It is moon, it is sun, it is the space in-between, where light becomes matter, where the external meets the intimate. Not a mirror, but a threshold. A point of passage into an inner luminosity.

Pinocchio’s Truth, 2025

127 x 170 cm

In this serene 19th-century religious engraving, a small figure slips in, part Aladdin, part Pinocchio, a trickster stirring the sacred. Crouched at the edge of holiness, he lights a spark, awakening what has long been still. His wooden nose hints at lies, but his presence reveals a deeper truth: life emerges through rupture, not stillness. This is not desecration, but animation, a whisper of magic into doctrine. In his spark, the sacred and the playful collide, and in that fragile collision, the old world flickers and breathes again.

Whisper, 2025

127 x 170 cm

A presence unfolds, vast and weightless, expanding into space beyond its own limits. She is movement without fixation, a form unframed, slipping past edges, refusing capture. Her beauty is not performed; it exists in the quiet tension between presence and absence, in the way she inhabits the room, transforming it. The viewer’s gaze becomes part of the work, drawn not to an object, but to a fleeting essence, a whisper held in space, echoing in the moment.

Where Silence Falls, 2025

127 x 170 cm

A delicate and evocative figure sits nude, her long black hair flowing like ink across her back. Her introspective posture, head bowed, eyes lowered, evokes a sense of quiet vulnerability. Fluid lines merge body and nature, blurring their boundaries. Around her, scattered marks drift like snow, recalling the intimate, timeless gestures of women in Japanese onsen, immersed in water, steam, and silence. This piece invites contemplation, offering a raw, ephemeral vision of solitude, femininity, and presence.

The Garden Within, 2025

127 x 170 cm

In a lush, almost suffocating garden, two female figures merge, body and refuge, self and other. Their ambiguous embrace blurs the lines between childhood and adulthood, tenderness and withdrawal. The garden becomes a metaphor for an inner space: a place of transformation, intimacy, and quiet metamorphosis.

The Keeper of the Swarm, 2025

280 x 355 cm

A female figure drifts through a vaporous landscape. Bees hover around her like thoughts, like breath. They carry not only pollen, but perfume, the trace of what escapes us, the scent of something once known and now dissolving. Her kimono unfolds into a terrain of petals, suspended between dream and atmosphere.

This work gathers all of Bour’s themes into a single vision: tenderness, transience, and the pull of the invisible.

Gold Will Follow, 2025

127 x 170 cm

She shimmers between worlds, a body of color, desire, and memory. The past lingers faintly beneath her skin, but she overflows it: a pulse of untamed light, soon to blaze with gold.
She is not just a figure; she is a force, sensual, sovereign, dissolving the boundaries of time.

Velvet Prison, 2025

In this sculpture, golden forms float like remnants of a suspended world, where matter and the virtual dissolve into one another. Beneath the translucent surface, fragments of animals, hybrid, improbable, gilded, seem to climb within an artificial ecosystem, trapped in a setting too perfect, too polished, too precious. It is both an ironic and sensitive homage to the decomposition of the social-media world: behind the apparent perfection of images, something crumbles, decomposes, mutates. These creatures, half-real, half-fabricated, embody that shift, they crawl, ascend, cling to a closed, mirrored world where nature is reduced to ornament, and life to illusion. The work poses a question: what remains when the image has consumed everything? What becomes of bodies, beasts, memories, within this golden shell where we both celebrate and suffocate?
